Maggie Harris was born in Guyana and moved to the UK in the 70s. Her writing draws on the relationship between the Caribbean and the UK, focusing on elements of history and migration, paradise and re-settlement.
She is a keen performer of her work and her poetry is heavily influenced by rhythm, music and lyricism. As well as giving readings of her work around the UK, she also runs poetry workshops and is a founding member of The Write Woman writers group.
She is the author of collections Kiskadee Girl, Canterbury Tales on a Cockrow Morning, In Margate By Lunchtime, and her latest short story collection Writing On Water which was published in May 2017 (Seren Books).
